Building Manager / Welcome Desk Attendant

Job Description

 

Student Activities hires responsible and highly motivated students to work in the various areas of its department. Student employees are representatives of the University and must be customer focused and team players. All Duncan Student Center employees will be cross-trained to serve as building managers (BM) and welcome desk attendants (WDA). Each shift will consist of a BM and WDA.

 

Regular weekly shifts:

6am-8am                                                             4pm-6pm

8am-10am                                                           6pm-8pm

10am-12pm                                                        8pm-11pm

12pm-2pm                                                          11pm-2am *Building Manager only

2pm-4pm

                   

  • We will be flexible to ensure that all shifts are covered
  • Employees may be required to cover a rotational shift on Football Saturdays.

Building Manger Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the management of Duncan Student Center.
  • Ensures the safety and security of the Student Center for students and guests.
  • Enforces compliance with all University and Duncan Student Center policies by students, employees and visitors.
  • Entrusted with keys to the Duncan Student Center while on duty.
  • Supervises Welcome Desk Attendants when other staff is not onsite.
  • Assists with use of meeting rooms and event spaces which may include unlocking spaces, AV Technology set-up and troubleshooting, and other assistance as needed.
  • Conducts rounds and keeps record of all meeting spaces and building usage.
  • Complete Building Manager Reports at the end of each shift.
  • Review Operations Reports and EMS reservation book to verify reservation space use.
  • Address and report any issues that may occur within the Duncan Student Center. This includes maintenance issues, personnel issues, policy and procedure issues, etc.
  • First aid / CPR trained (training will be provided through SAO)
  • Other tasks as assigned.

 

Welcome Desk Attendant Responsibilities:

  • Ensures the safety and security of the Student Center for students and guests.
  • Enforces compliance with all University and Duncan Student Center policies by students, employees and visitors.
  • Greet guests, answer questions, and give directions.
  • Answer phone and route calls.
  • Use 2 -way radio to communicate issues to building manager or other staff.
  • Be familiar with all offices and departments in Duncan Student Center and know their locations.
  • First aid / CPR trained (training will be provided through SAO)
  • Other tasks as assigned.

 

Expectations & Skills:

  • Must be people-oriented, able to solve problems, and be knowledgeable of campus life and activities.
  • Return to campus prior to the start of each semester to attend Fall/Spring Training.
  • Must be able to effectively and courteously interact with students, staff, faculty and visitors.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently in difficult situations with little supervision.
  • Have the ability to prioritize and handle events and tasks as they occur.
  • Have basic understanding of how to use an Apple iPad.
  • Must be familiar with University of Notre Dame resources and campus.
  • Must be prompt and reliable.
